Book update! Official title and release date
I wanted to share the latest about my book, and how the writing process is going.
First, some details:
We have an official title! My book, released by Intervarsity Press, is going to be called, “The Minority Experience: Navigating Emotional and Organizational Realities“
What do you think? I think it describes well the purpose of the book, which is to paint a picture of what it’s like to be a minority not just in intellectual terms, but emotional experiences. It’s also not a generic story; it’s my own personal story of challenges trying to navigate my place in a majority-white country and organization. However, I also tell the story of many other ethnic minorities through history, and draw from the wisdom of many experts in the fields of race and faith.
The book is scheduled to be released in fall of 2018. We don’t have an exact date yet, but I’ll let you know when we do.
Now as far as the writing process, I’m currently working on revisions to my manuscript, after receiving helpful feedback from reviewers and my editor. I’m recognizing the immense challenge of writing about such a polarizing topic like race, and so I’m putting every ounce of time and energy that I have into trying to do this justice. At the same time, I know it’s a great opportunity and an honor to have a voice in this conversation.
I do ask for your encouragement and prayers as I write. I’ll be needing your support in the months to come, so don’t be surprised if I reach out to you. And you can always make my day by writing to me first! : )
Thank you, and may each day bring you renewed joy and meaning!
